After 15 years of drumming for California punk rock band Bad Religion, Brooks Wackerman is calling it quits.
A few weeks ago, we mentioned on-air that rumor of Wackerman leaving the band was a possibility. As of last night, his departure was confirmed via his social media outlets.
“This wasn’t an easy decision to make after spending a good chunk of my life in such an iconic band,” Wackerman’s post said, “but after reassessing my future in music it was time for me to pursue another path.”
As of this article’s writing, Bad Religion has yet to make an official statement. It’s also unclear as to what Wackerman has planned for his future. Frontman Greg Graffin’s tweeted “Fare thee well my dear man!” with a retweet of Wackerman’s announcement.
Following a short stint with Suicidal Tendencies, Wackerman took over when former Bad Religion drummer Bobby Schayer suffered a serious shoulder injury.
