Fans of metalcore band Killswitch Engaged are no doubt curious as to the goings on in the life of former vocalist Howard Jones after his departure from the band in early 2012. While no official reason was ever given for Jones leaving the band, Jones did go on to cite both medical qualms and a loss of enthusiasm in writing and touring.
Killswitch reunited with original vocalist Jesse Leach who performed on the bands first two albums. But many had wondered what Jones would do next. Would he form a new band? Go solo? Or retire from music altogether? Well those who put their money on option A were right.
Jones has teamed up with guitarist Francesco Artusato from All Shall Perish, and drummer John Sankey of Devolved in order to form Devil You Know. According to Jones, there was never a plan to form a new band, it just sort of happened. "It turned from bare-bones musical ideas into something that surpassed any of our expectations...It went from something we thought was going to e a fun, heavy project into something very real."
The band also says that it will be a new sound all unto itself with Artusato saying, "I t became a departure from what I'm known for". Jones described the differences himself as well. "It's a different style of music for me...It's heavy as anything any of us are known for but I get to do some different things people won't expect."
The bands debut album is expected sometime in the first quarter of 2014. But for those who can't wait or want to listen to the bands new style, you can check out a demo version of their song "Shut it Down" when you like their Facebook page here.
