Joey Jordison, drummer for the metal band Slipknot and his side project, Scar the Martyr recently sat down with Metal Hammer and let loose his thoughts on the current iteration of Black Sabbath which is noticeably missing drummer Bill Ward due to numerous allegations and contractual disputes.
According to Jordison, “Proper Sabbath is Sabbath with Bill Ward. I'm sorry, it just is. Bill Ward is one of the most underrated drummers ever – the dude is f-ing unreal, such a great, great player.” While he holds no animosity to the band, nor to their current situation, its fair to say that the masked drummer will not be attending any shows with the bands current make up.
“I just can't bring myself to see Sabbath without Bill Ward, because he was such an integral part of that band. He's like John Bonham or Keith Moon, one of theose drummers who made the drums parts of those classic songs just as special as the guitar riffs or the vocals. I respect those guys doing what they're doing, but sorry, count me out.”
Jordison is no doubt not the only fan who feels this way, unfortunately for the time being and very possibly the near future, Black Sabbath fans will have to make do with the options present.
