Deftones Release Song Off Lost Album “Eros”

By Thomas Cowley

Fans of the Deftones have no doubt heard of the bands unreleased album, Eros. Originally meant to be the bands sixth studio album, Eros was put on an indefinite hiatus after the tragic car accident that ultimately took the life of bassist Chi Cheng.

Since then, the band has released two separate albums without Cheng, but fans have always remained curious about the “lost album” that was Eros, no doubt due to the fact that it has become the last album containing Cheng’s work. Well now fans can take some bitter-sweet solace in the fact that they can, for the first time, hear a song off of the elusive record.

Lead singer Chino Moreno posted the following video of the song “Smile” on Sunday, the year anniversary of Cheng’s passing, with a single tweet which read:

“Chi, We miss you today and every day. – deftones”

Despite the tragedy, fans are no doubt grateful to Moreno for sharing this track with the world, and I’m sure Chi Cheng would be as well.
