Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante will not take part in the bands European tour this year and instead will be replaced by Jon Dette. Benante is apparently still in recovery from his recent carpal tunnel surgery and at the moment, is in the midst of physical therapy.
Benante says he will be back in playing shape later this summer, just in time for the band to return to the states. He attempted to come back previously during some recent festivals, but found that he was not fully capable to keep up with the bands busy schedule.
“Playing those shows, I realized I’m just not quite there yet. Especially for the schedule Anthrax has on these European dates. I’m hoping to join the tour for the last couple of weeks, but until then, we all appreciate that Jon can sit in for me.”
Regardless of touring setbacks, Anthrax says that once their tour wraps up, they will head back into the studio to finish their upcoming album.
