That "License to Breed" idea is sounding like a better idea every year.
Part of being a mature parent is realizing your teenagers are going to be assholes. Part of being a drama queen manchild is posting a nine minute tantrum that attempts to litigate your relationship with your child and then destroying their possessions.
When does the measured, adult, and in control, response to children having rebellious thoughts ever involve posting a video on the internet? Never. This ding dong is such a bad parent, and questionable personality, hes throwing a one man reality show and some are "hell yeah! Computer Kardashian for Dad of the Year."
I mean seriously: What dad worth his salt flies off the handle like this and makes a YouTube RAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGEEEEEEE video?
Know how I know this is a terrible idea? This is something my dad would do and he was horrible at raising kids.

And, buddy... if you've been in I.T. for over a year, fixing a computer should NOT take you more than 1 maybe 2 hours - unless it is like, a DX-2 or some other dinosaur.

DylanGodfrey - This is a parenting win, sometimes you have to go extreme to really get a message across, or in this case really follow through on a threat that the kid doesn't think you will follow through on. I think this is a good example of what a lot of parents need to do with their own very misbehaved kids...( btw, I have 4 kids of my own )

This sounds like people from a 3rd-world country. IT TOOK YOU FINDING OUT OVER FACEBOOK TO KNOW YOUR OWN CHILD'S GREIVENCES, and then insult that privacy by shooting her laptop?
If you felt the need to perform espionage in order to know what your child's feelings about you are, you're not the parent of that child... she's already left your home; at least in spirit.

JoshuaRemy - I think he was right!! This girl sounds spoiled and ***** to get a **** job if she wants things. PAID to do chors?? What a joke. I was working at 14 years old to buy my own stuff. This girl should be greatfull she has a roof over her head and food on the table!!
TrevorSmith2 - I have an idea for Future Dirty Harrys of the laptop world. Since this guy was in IT, why wouldnt he just Make her laptop into a glorified word processor... You can internally disconnect the Internet interfaces.. cat5 / wireless etc.. That way she can still use it for school and the internet is no longer viable from her laptop. Another thing is many people are steering all their attention to this father... That is wrong since he obviously talked his plans over with his current wife (unknown about former) since she said to put a bullet in there for her. So blaming just him for this act is a bit unfair.. BOTH parents seem to be equally guilty on this one..
As for my stand on this. I agree with the heightend consequenses. But shooting a laptop along with the latest improvements 140$ so lets just for arguements sake a 700$ laptop is a bit wasteful... Should have wiped the drive and sold it, or donated it, or gave it to a family member who may have needed it. There were better fates for the laptop and the Daughter needed a lesson, but maybe that is not a lesson she is going to learn. Maybe a tour of the local teen runaway center or having a sit down with a CPS agent so her actions and her future can be completely explained to her. At this point the daughter is not listening to the parents and even this video will probably only push her further into a tyrant.
