Pick Of The Week: Parkway Drive -Atlas
Parkway Drive have outdone themselves with their new album Atlas and they are going to be what the definition of metalcore should be and hopefully will become. The deep brutal vocals are not understated by melodic vocals which thankfully bucked the current trend of some bands. There are some great fist pumping songs like Old Ghost/New Regrets and Swing that really get your head banging and make you get caught up in the engulfing musical fury. The Song Wild Eyes has some amazing drumming in it and the song itself does not scream metalcore either. There are a few slower songs on here of course but nothing that seems out of place and gives the album a nice flow from heavy to light. It is almost as if the band anticipated you might need a break to catch your breath. The River is an ebb and flow style song that grooves from light ethereal sounding music to heavy and fast and back again. Parkway Drive have the talent to sew those elements together in a song seamlessly. Atlas from Parkway Drive is the album to buy if you can only afford one this week.
