The rumors of Slipknot's demise have been greatly exaggerated. In a recent interview with Slipknot's DJ Sid Wilson, he reveals that the band will enter the studio in early 2013 to record their first studio album since 2008's All Hope Is Gone.
Slipknot will headline this years Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival which kicks off on June 30th alongside Slayer, Anthrax, Motörhead and more (the tour hits the Ashley Furniture Homestore Pavilion in Phoenix on 7/6).
Once Slipknot is done tearing audiences a "new one" this summer, they'll take a break for the winter, wait for vocalist Corey Taylor to finish up a tour with Stone Sour and then it's back to the studio.
Speaking of Stone Sour, the band is currently recording a new album due out in October. The album has a title but Taylor isn't ready to give it away yet. In a recent Twitter post,
Taylor confirmed the departure of bassist Shawn Economaki who had been with the band since 1992. Taylor also took to Twitter to praise the film The Avengers, calling it one of the "top 3 best movies ever made," along with Life of Brian and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.
In a later "tweet", Taylor rounded out his top 5 favorite movies with Halloween (explains his #8 mask) and The Dark Knight. Come to think of it, there are a lot of masks in those movies.
