Ever since we started spinning the track "Let It Burn" from Avatar, I feel like the boys haven't gotten a fair shake when it comes to showing up in the 9 O'Clock Four Play --partly because you've associated them with the film. All of us on the air have done our best to make you, the listener, aware that the band may have the same name, but never took it from the film. In fact, the band has been around for a lot longer than the movie, so you can forget about trying to associate them with gigantic blue people who have awkward hair sex. Further, they have been in the rock scene since 2001 and have played shows all over.
How come some of you have never heard or seen of them until now? This is partly because they are a Swedish Melodic Death Metal band who has mainly played overseas and are now starting to inject themselves into the mainstream here in the US.
I mean, you guys are always talking about how you want to hear music that really kicks ass, so here you go. Not only does it kick ass, but it's Swedish. Some of you may already know the band is pretty good if you were listening to the 3 O'Clock Sideshow. If you missed it that night, you can pick up Avatar's album, Black Waltz, now on iTunes or stream it on Spotify.
So allow me to reintroduce you to Avatar and the video to that single we're spinning. Enjoy!
