Desert Uprising: What Happens Backstage? - Part 1

Well, for me, it’s a little different when I’m backstage.  The backstage experience isn’t really anything special other than seeing tour managers, roadies, and rockstars walk around take smoke breaks and eventually go into their dressing rooms to warm up before the show.  

Yesterday, I was sitting in the the back admin offices and heard Art of Dying rehearsing/warming up before their set.  At that very moment, I thought to myself, “This is all too surreal! I’m hearing bands warm up before their set!”  I had always known that there is a warm-up portion before going on stage, but I really couldn’t believe it!  I WAS LISTENING TO BANDS WARM UP!

It was that instant that I thought of a scene out of the movie Almost Famous where William Miller was walking through the Continental Hyatt (Riot) House Hotel to find two musicians sitting in a room playing a song together.  At this point in time, he stops and looks into the room to find that the people he is normally playing on his record player are right in front of his eyes! Ultimately candid and leaving him in awe.

It wasn’t until an hour later that I would experience something similar--my own William Miller moment with Corey Taylor...
