As we lead into the weekend before the 4th of July, there’s nothing more American than reading a story about an American being arrested in the Czech Republic who has been accused of manslaughter. Yeah, yeah, what’s so American about that? It should be noted that this particular American just so happens to be Lamb of God frontman, Randy Blythe.
Just like I do every morning, I pick up my phone and start browsing through my social networks to see if anything big has happened overnight. When I reached my Instagram account, I saw a picture of Rob Blasko (Ozzy Osbourne bassist) and Randy with the hashtag “#FreeRandy”. Upon first glance, I didn’t think anything about it other than it was rockstars being jokesters.* But somewhere in my mind, I began to think to myself, “I haven’t seen Randy posting to his Instagram account lately. I wonder if this is in correlation to him taking pictures where he wasn’t permitted? You never know in these other countries, but I doubt this is the case.
Regardless, I hopped over to my Twitter and found another post with the same hashtag and began to think, “What the fuck is going on?” As many had already read the news from last night, Lamb of God had to cancel their show in Prague due to police questioning Blythe about an altercation he had with a fan running up on stage in 2010. There were some reports that a microphone was used in the altercation, but there is no word on exactly what happened.
Everyone from management to the family of Blythe seem to believe that Randy is innocent and will be fully exonerated of any accusations. Until further notice, Randy will be detained while the investigation continues.
Blythe, a recovering alcoholic and was well-known for fighting, seems to have found more solace and peace in posting and interpreting photographs on his Instagram account. You can view his pictures on by searching his handle, LambVox.
