The Dimebag Darrell 9 O'Clock Fourplay Tribute

It’s hard to believe that I have been paying tribute to Dimebag Darrell for 6 years here at the radio station. In a sense, today has turned into my own personal holiday of remembrance as I sit in my man cave and blast Pantera all day.

I do this for two reasons:

To re-live a time when music was dangerous and on the edge of an explosion.

To pick the right songs for the 9 O’Clock Fourplay later on in the night.

This is the ONE NIGHT that I’m allowed to play ANY FOUR songs from the Pantera catalogue—and play them LOUD.

Every year it’s always difficult for me to pick FOUR particular songs that resonate with Pantera fans and showcase Dime’s talent as a musician; every year I ask fans to pick the songs for me so they can play DJ; every year I intensely read lyrics and try to come to terms with the four most appropriate songs for the radio; and every year I fall short because you can’t just play only four.

Given that there aren’t six years of songs on this list, I do know I have played repeats of some of these songs and believe Pantera fans deserve songs that aren’t already played on the radio. With that, I will choose three completely different songs to showcase in the 9 O’Clock Fourplay tonight at 9PM to pay tribute to our fallen brother, Dimebag Darrell.

The fourth song will be a repeat of the aforementioned list that I have reserved for one of our webmasters, Dominic Borgognone. He has slaved away on the new 98 KUPD website and I think he deserves to pick a song for all the hard work he has put into this website. Send him an email and thank him! :)
