Sunday/Monday -- 4:00AM
So here we are back to Monday and believe it or not, I’m still trying to recover from from U-fest this last weekend. I’d like to say that my fatigue is the result of partying with the bands backstage, but I’ve got to be honest and say that I am far more tired from running around. If you happened to be at the show on Saturday, you might have caught a glimpse of me walking through the crowd greeting and taking pictures with people. I’ve gotta say that one of my favorite things to do is to walk around at the festivals just so I can say hi to the most supportive group of individuals who listen to the station.
In between my running around, you may have also noticed that I was taking it upon myself to snap a few photos. Of course, there were a ton of photographers around taking pictures of the bands and gorgeous ladies, but I wanted to do something that I have hardly ever seen on our website before. I decided that it was time to take those candid photos of you standing in the crowd hanging with your friends or waiting for your next favorite band to take the stage.
I’d have to say that some of my favorite moments are capturing those people who were in the back of the crowd either resting or deep in their own thoughts. Each time I snapped a shot, I wondered what you guys were thinking. You guys had me curious the entire time.
Although I only took 400 pictures--compared to the 4,000 that some of the other photographers took--I was able to hang out in the photo pit for the first three songs of Staind’s set as well as Godsmack’s. During Staind’s set, I took a ton of shots of Aaron Lewis before being kicked out after the third song.
As I made my way back to the VIP section, my Content Manager, Dominic, said to me, “Can you go up to the photo pit during Godsmack? I’d love to get some video of them if we can.” Without a question I replied, "Of course! Why didn’t I think of this before!?"
As the time drew to 9:30 P.M., I hurried myself to the front of the pit anxiously awaiting Godsmack to take the stage.
What more is there to say other than what you are about to see on the video. Every seat in the house was a good one, but I believe I had the best one. Don't believe me? Check out the video to see for yourself.
