Earlier today, Metallica's Kirk Hammett was featured in a video interview where he was attending the Led Zeppelin premeire of Celebration Day. When he was asked what Zeppelin meant to him, he said--in so many words--that the band was the soundtrack to his youth. He even praised Jimmy Page for being the all-encompassing part of the band when it came to songwriting and the music and even including him as a influence in learning how to play guitar solos.
After watching the interview, I began to compile a list of songs that were thematic to my life. Like the construction of a mix tape from the 1980s, I had to really think about where I was in my life. What would be the opening track to my life's soundtrack? Is the second song in my soundtrack equally as kick ass as the opening track? Do I make the remaining songs equally as adrenaline pumping?
Do I choose songs where it encompasses my entire life? What about the song for when I sleep? Would it be a heavy metal song? Chillout song?
So, let's do this...
You're about to make a 6-12 song soundtrack of your life. Maybe it's shorter than 6 songs. Tonight around 8PM I'll read a few of your responses on the air.
Which songs would they be and why? Leave a comment below!
