The hit HBO show “Game of Thrones” returns this Sunday for the show’s fourth season and I for one could not be more excited. Well maybe not as excited as some dedicated fans have been. Over the past few years fans of the show have made all sorts of tributes to the bestselling book series and television show. From full scale replications in Minecraft, fan art and cosplay, to even a beer, fans no doubt are proud of the obsession. Well now someone has blended their love for “Game of Thrones” with their love for Skyrim.
The award winning video game “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” is a role-playing game set in a fantasy world with dragons and magic, so naturally there have been comparisons to the popular fantasy show. One fan has gone as far as to give the dragon-centered game the HBO treatment by recreating the iconic opening sequence from the award winning series. The new intro shows several of the major cities in the game being built from the ground up as they are in the show, which always seemed like Google Earth meets Legos to me but I digress.
This labor of love is brought to us by a lone fan named Brady Wood, who claims that the entire project only happened because he was bored one day. “This started off as an exercise to kill time one afternoon about two years ago, never intending it to be a finished project…I continued to work on it here and there throughout various freelance projects, internships, and other personal projects until it became a burden.”
If you are like so many fans I know, and this made you want to play Skyrim again, yet sadly you have already finished it, remember that Elder Scrolls Online comes out tomorrow, which should tide some people over.
