Fozzy frontman Chris Jericho has shared the band’s reasoning behind playing shows in North and South Dakota over the weekend.
During his weekly Saturday Night Special livestream, Jericho explained that Fozzy went through with the shows due to the states’ comparatively low infection numbers — South Dakota reported 99 new cases on August 7, while North Dakota reported 91 new cases on August 8.
“The venues are either outside or they’re half-capacity,” Jericho said. “We hand out masks at the door, there are temperature checks, all that sort of stuff. We basically just stay on the bus all day. Everyone in the Fozzy camp, crew and band, has been tested.”
He added that it feels “great to be back on stage again.”
Fozzy briefly trended on Twitter over the weekend after photos circulated from one of the shows, which showed the band performing in front of a crowd cramped together in front of the stage.
Jericho previously proclaimed that he wanted to make mask wearing “mandatory” to slow the spread of COVID-19.
