Halestorm frontwoman Lzzy Hale will host the 2021 She Rocks Awards, taking place Friday night. The “I Miss the Misery” rocker is especially excited to help celebrate her longtime friend Amy Lee, who is one of this year’s honorees.

“She and I have known each other for years,” Hale tells ABC Audio of the Evanescence vocalist. “She’s one of those people that when you get to know her, you almost forget, you put it in the back of your head, how incredibly talented that she is, and the fact that she could actually sing the phone book or a car insurance commercial, and it would be absolutely mind-blowingly beautiful.”

“The fact that I get to share a little bit about our friendship…it means a lot to me to present her with this this year,” she adds.

Along with Lee, the 2021 She Rocks honorees include Heart‘s Nancy Wilson, The Go-Go’s, Runaways singer Cherie Currie and Santana drummer Cindy Blackman Santana, among others.

“So many of my idols and peers are getting honored this year,” Hale says. “So just to be a part of that, and to be able to…give almost this nod of respect and approval to these women, and just knowing how hard it is to even get to this point in your career.”

This year’s She Rocks Awards will stream online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and Hale feels that the ceremony will be a welcome bright light during what’s been a difficult year.

“I think we all really needed this,” she laughs.

The 2021 She Rocks Awards will stream via Parade magazine’s official website and, Friday, starting at 6:30 p.m. PT.
