Myles Kennedy has premiered a new song called “The Ides of March,” the title track from the Alter Bridge frontman’s upcoming solo album.

The nearly eight-minute epic takes many twists and turns amid its journey through slow ballad territory into heavy shredding. You can download it now via digital outlets.

“Written quickly one night after having a few drinks, it was an attempt to sum up what so many of us felt during the beginning of the pandemic,” Kennedy says of “The Ides of March.”

“We were bored, frustrated and self-medicating to avoid going stir crazy,” he adds. “What I like about the narrative is it pushes the idea that if everything is going to hell, at least try and do it in a celebratory fashion.”

By the way, Kennedy missed the actual Ides of March — March 15 — by just one day. The date refers to the day Julius Caesar was assassinated.

The album The Ides of March will be released May 14. It also includes the single “In Stride.”
