After a week of teasing, Nickelback has dropped a cover of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.”
For their version of the Charlie Daniels Band classic, the Canadian rockers swapped out a golden fiddle for a golden guitar, and add in a lot more shredding than what you might expect from Chad Kroeger and company. You can download the cover now via digital outlets.
Nickelback had actually recorded the cover, which features Canadian jazz fusion guitarist Dave Martone, a “few years ago,” but decided to finally release it following Charlie Daniels‘ death last month at age 83.
“It was fun to tackle and brought back memories for us all,” Nickelback says. “When [Daniels] passed, the world lost a music icon. We hope our version will bring half as much joy as his did for us.”
Nickelback’s “Devil” cover follows Korn‘s recently released version, which features Yelawolf.
